2022.01.28 05:36 WhoAmIEven2 Is there an English word for the term "isekai"?
Not strictly gaming related, but the story has started to being used in games recently quite a bit, like in Forspoken, Pokémon: Legends of Arceus etc.
Isekai = someone from a world, often ours, who gets teleported to another world.
Is there no English term for this kind of storytelling, or how come the Japanese wod is always in use?

2022.01.28 05:36 someonewhonamedlib Interesting interactions with Sun Devour Eos (in PvP)
As most people have known, Eos has 2 types of Sun: an Everlasting Sun that burns and deals quite some damage when she's alive and a Devouring Sun when she dies. Devouring Sun inflicts Energy Oscalation, which is a MARK.
What does this mean? Well, her Devouring Sun could deal quite a lot of damage and instakilling the targets, ignoring Unbending Will entirely. This also means that, theoritically, a PVP match with a squishy (but fast) Sun Devour Eos could go as follows:
- Round 1: Halora and Eos releases active, Eos summons Everlasting Sun, deals damage. Since Eos is squishy, she'll just die. However, enemies would be at <50% HP at this point, and, assuming that they don't have energy feed and you don't have Carrie, will have max energy.
- End of Round 1: Assuming that all opponents are at max HP, Devouring Sun will just go straight through Unbending Will, killing a majority of enemies, which is a great advantage.
- Round 2: For a less squishy Eos, she'll die in this round, which means she have already released 2 Burns+some damage, which definitely means that enemies are <60% HP already. If the enemies have energy feed (but not 15 DB), they'll be at near max energy (or around 60 energy at least) at the end of round 2. Eos will delete all of them.
A demonstration of this interaction could be seen here in this fight:
https://youtu.be/kmCCf8t9jc0?t=457 (not by me)
So, yeah. Eos could create some pretty cheapshotty PvP strats. Just imagine Carrie's mark but for each and every round and to all enemies at a 100% activation rate. Do whatever you want with that

2022.01.28 05:36 cjonoski Does this sound like TMJ
So my Dr has basically given me a TMJ diagnosis but just wanted to see if the below fit.
Short story, I have MS and on 4 Jan I had to do 4 teeth fillings (well overdue) and then 11 days later I had my teeth whitened at the dentist which took 90mins.
Since then, thepast 10 days I’ve had constant headaches (in the forehead and around my temples and one eyebrow or the other) usually my headaches from MS have been top of my head due to my neck issues whereas these are all around the front of my head.
I’ve also had a sore jaw on both sides and my teeth have been a bit achey and sensitive. And I’ve also noticed some reflux and right throat like there’s a pit in my throat.
My Dr put his hands on my jaw and asked me to open and said did that pressure hurt - YES! It was and is super painful. He ruled out a sinus infection.
I’ve seen a physio today to help relieve my jaw and neck and she could feel the tightness in my neck muscles around my lower chin
With all that said, are these typical TMJ symptoms? I’m taking muscle relaxers, ibuprofen and paracetamol to help as well as eating soft food but so far no major relief.

2022.01.28 05:36 marshaln Hitman 3 maps impressions you didn't ask for from a steam user
Ok, I know, a year late, etc etc. Having played through each map at least a few times now, I just want to share my initial thoughts on them. I played them professional (with a couple attempts at master SASO so far) and no stories tips etc. Prior Hitman experience is the other two games in the WOA trilogy. I dabbled a bit in the earlier games but have not played through them like many of you here.
Dubai - Interesting setup, great intro - in fact, I would say that one thing IOI really did well with Hitman 3 is how the initial entrances to all the maps are top notch and very cinematic. They definitely tried to up their game with regards to that first entrance (as opposed to the old standard getting off a bus/boat). The map itself is interesting - basically your typical open half where you can roam around however you want, and then the secure zone in the back (in this case, upstairs). There's something a little weird about audio here - sometimes I hear conversations that I have no business hearing because it's happening on a different floor. For me, the art exhibit/party area is a bit stale. It's missing a bit of that lively feel that some other previous maps have.
Dartmoor - People love this map and I can see why. It's far more intimate in a way, and you get to know the characters a lot better (as opposed to the ones in Dubai, who are just sort of generic Hitman characters). I love how playing detective you can tell different stories to Alexa and you'll get different results. The personalities of different family members are also believable. What I found lacking was a bit of a "back" area - as I commented elsewhere, this map really needed to have a servants' quarters, whether in a separate house or in the attic/basement. Those back areas give you different kinds of opportunities and interactions with the story characters. They did this right now with the kitchen area but it's small and could've used more.
Berlin - Interesting concept, once again a cold open that's really atmospheric. I like how you have no idea what you're supposed to do and have to sort of figure it out. The kills, though, are slightly too easy perhaps? This is the simplest master SASO I've done. I guess when you have this many targets some are bound to be a bit easy to do. It would've been good if the targets were a little more dynamic - sort of like the Malestrom in Mumbai, where multiple guards could be the targets. Once you've know who they are the kills are trivial. The only two people of interest on this map other than the targets are probably the owner and the DJ. I feel like with a setting like this it could've been a bit beefier in that front, but maybe having this many targets also presents issues. I can sort of see them going in this direction with the 007 game.
Chongqing - The setting is, once again, beautiful. A city that has no crowds, with two fortresses. This is sort of like Sapienza in that sense, especially with the lab under a building, but in a dark, quiet setting. Figuring out how to get in to the two buildings was a fun puzzle, and triggering a few of the different encounters was also pretty cool (like the corridor meet between the two targets that I didn't know would've taken place, with a conveniently placed gas tank). I like how once you do the last thing, you have to leave but the whole map changes a bit for you - the path you plotted out coming in no longer works, and you have to improvise with a whole bunch of new enemies. I don't think they've ever done this in WOA and it's a nice touch.
Mendoza - This map feels the most like a "normal" hitman map. It's got the big party, it's got that mansion, it's got the work area with the vineyard/winery. There are multiple persons of interest - the lawyer, the hitman, the winery director, plus the targets. Killing the target that trails Diana is also not that easy, which is nice, as she's a constant annoyance, especially if you want to do it SASO (or maybe I just haven't figured it out yet). I've played this map a few times already but I feel like I haven't finished exploring it, which is nice. But what's up with the exits????
Carpathian Mountains - Well, this one. Again, like Berlin, it's extremely cinematic in its opening. That moment you open the train car is exhilarating. It's like a puzzle, and less like a normal Hitman map - every train car is basically a level in a puzzle game where you have to figure out how to get across unspotted (or you can just shoot everyone with the ample weapons they give you). The objective is clear, and there aren't really any complications. Not a real map you'll replay over and over again, and I still have a couple things I haven't resolved yet (like that locked room), but IMO it's a fitting end to the trilogy and I have no problems with that.
Overall, am I happy with the maps? Mostly, yes. It's more Hitman, and that's always a good thing. Some of the maps have gone in a slightly different direction, and I can see why they'd want to do that so it doesn't get stale. I also see hints of where the 007 game is going to do with the choices made in some of these maps. Launch issues aside (and always online requirement....) still a fun, enjoyable experience.
